Anne Skimmons
Hometown: Point Pleasant, NJ
Family: My biggest supporters are my parents, Terri and Joseph Skimmons. My brother is also my supporter, and my favorite training partner in all aspects.
Profession: Student at Monmouth University, studying Graphic Design
Racing Start: I progressed through the junior guard program at Sea Girt beach, starting when I was 7. I loved to compete in the water, being the pool or the ocean. I fell in love with surf lifesaving from the beginning and I never stopped.
Training: I am a D1 swimmer at Monmouth University, and I train with my team, swimming, lifting, and running on the side. During the summer I swim before work, sometimes during, and paddle during my hour break. I usually run or ski after work, and I often train up to three times a day, twice a day on my days off. Surf skiing, swimming, running, and working. I love to incorporate multiple crafts into my workouts, and I love training with someone or a group. It motivates and pushes me.
Favorite Moment: My favorite moment in racing was during the summer of 2015 at the first Red Bull Tournament in Atlantic City, NJ. As team Sea Girt, we were holding our own and progressing well in each round. The final round, after my paddle leg and Mike Barrow’s swim leg, the most memorable moment was watching Alex D’Anna and Todd Sudal cross the line in the boat first, and the feeling of seeing my team win such an intense run of events.
Equipment: I race and train on a Fenn surfski, and Kracka paddleboard, and I also own and train on a Bark 12’ paddleboard
